A must attend seminar.

THE MODEL PHILOSOPHER PODCAST

The modelling podcast with a twist, the Model Philosopher, hosted by Chris Meddings, is present at SMC with a stand in the club section.

The Model Philosopher is a podcast about the theoretical and philosophical side of modelling, rather than the technique and kits.

Every episode, the host, Chris Meddings, talks to a guest about a theme to do with the hobby, such as politics in modelling, how colour is used to evoke emotion, whether modelling is art at all, the purpose of contests, the value of ambiguity and other such subjects.

The Model Philosopher stand at SMC will have the works of a number of guests of the podcast on display.

The Model Philosopher has also recently launched an annual prize for art in modelling, the Upturner Prize.

Find the Model Philosopher on any podcasting app, and find the Upturner Prize at UpturnerPrize.com

DANIEL ZROM

Illustrator & Concept Artist: DANIEL ZROM

I am Daniel Zrom, born in Sevilla, October 1992.

Greatly inspired by classic fantasy since childhood I started painting miniatures at a young age, leading to a Lifetime of interest in the art behind everything that I loved, from games to movies and books.

Ever since I finished my university studies in Fine Arts I have been working as an illustrator and concept artist for characters and creatures in the board and card games industry.
From small companies to some of the biggest, such as Wizard of the Coast or CMON working for famous IP’s like Star Wars, The Lord Of the Rings or Trudvang Chronicles.

I consider myself a traditional artist with oils being my main choice.

EVI VAN DER VORST

SCENIC PAINTER, MODEL MAKER, PROPS: EVI VAN DER VORST

Evi is a senior scenic painter and model maker with over eight years of experience in the themed entertainment industry, passionate about film, craftsmanship and creating visual immersive experiences.

Between 2016-2024, she has worked at P&P Projects, bringing international projects in the leisure industry to life for well-known IP’s while specializing in decorative show sets, faux finishes, and material applications for diverse environments.

She’s always dreamt of leaving her mark on extraordinary (stop-motion) film productions and after accomplishing some major goals at her previous job she felt confident to follow this dream and start her own company: Evi van der Vorst Scenic.

With extensive knowledge of painting techniques – from spray painting and faux-finishes to trompe l’oeil and aging techniques – Evi transforms 2D visions into vivid 3D worlds. She combines artistic creativity with strong technical craftsmanship.

Whether it’s theme parks, scare mazes, film- and theatre sets, or murals, big or small, Evi brings colour, texture, and imagination together to create unique experiences.

During SMC 2025 she will exhibit a variety of some recently made and some older scale models and miniatures. Evi gets inspired mostly by (horror and sci-fi) movies, aging and architecture.
